Those who arrive early for the 7 PM start will be treated to a limited supply of free glow sticks, courtesy of the Lighting of the Lawn team. The glow sticks will truly add to the spectacle of the event, helping to make it a night to remember for all who attend.

How the Lights Shine Brighter Than Ever This Year

Since its inception, the Lawn has featured around 11,000 streamers of light. Approximately every seven years, the pieces must be replaced, and this year is no different. 55 students have worked hard to bring in $80,000 to purchase new bulbs that are powered by solar energy – ensuring that the Lawn will glow brighter than ever before.

An Emotional Night of Remembrance

As was the case last year, the light show will feature the numbers “1”, “15” and “41” – the jersey numbers of Lavel Davis, Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry who were killed in the shooting that took place close to the University in 2019. The poem to be read at 8:30 PM will be a reflective one, paying homage to the tragedy and how the university community came together to overcome it.

An Enhanced, Extended Performance

The event will kick off at 7 PM with performances from a capella and musical groups, followed by the mass singing of “The Good Old Song”. Then, the show will continue with an extended light show pulsating in rhythm with the music. Truly, it promises to be a spectacular evening.
